Where is your studio located?

We are located between Willowbrook Mall and Vintage Park in North Houston.

What should I wear to my portrait session?

All of my clients receive a detailed email that helps them prepare and select the right clothing for their specific session. My list provides tips for selecting outfits based on fit, skin tone, backdrop, etc. I also provide clients with my personal list of favorites (like black turtlenecks) to my least favorites (shorts). My clients receive a guide on how to prepare for their session from the moment our consultation ends to the day they head to the studio.

There are differences between how I prepare my clients for the four categories of sessions I offer: Sanguine Brands, Sanguine Portraits, Sanguine Fine Art, and Libidinous. I’ve spent a lot of time honing down my list to fit each session style and the specifics for each client. I create Pinterest boards to share my inspiration and provide my clients with specific ideas for their time in the studio. For example, with my fine art brand, clients have access to my silks and fabrics to create those regal queen portraits.

Are hair and makeup included in my session?

The Sanguine Experience includes makeup and hair by professional artists hand-selected by me. These talented artists know my style and specific preferences. Communication with my artists is essential for me to create my signature look. My artists work well with my brand, provide similar customer service, and provide an elevated experience to my clients. When you book your session, a portion of the sitting fee is used to hire your beauty team.

I don’t know how to pose. Will you guide me during a session?

Posing is my specialty. The majority of my clients rely on my expertise to create the iconic Sanguine images which I am known for. I actually love working with real people and directing them into poses that work best for their body type, comfortability, and style. My job is to make each person into a piece of artwork, to ensure they have a great time, and to have lots of fun during the process. Most of my work is very formal and exquisite, but we have so much fun and laughter creating those images.

How far in advance should I reserve my session?

I recommend clients book their shoots at least 1-2 months in advance. I limit sessions to 2-3 per week to provide each client that special Sanguine experience. Clients can contact me for a shoot within a shorter time frame to see if I have any last-minute cancellations or openings during the week. However, it is highly recommended to reserve your time with me earlier. I often have clients who pay their portrait sitting fee 6 months in advance of their session.

What does the portrait sitting fee cover?

The portrait sitting fee covers your beauty team, planning/coordinating your session, shooting time, light beverages and snacks, complimentary dinner, and a 7x10 fine art print matted to 11x14.

When will my portraits be ready?

Your portraits will be ready within 7-10 business days. Wall art and products arrive within 2-3 weeks. All products are hand-delivered to your home.

When will my portraits be ready?

How will the images be edited?

All images are edited in my signature Sanguine style. Headshots and branding images are edited in a standard edit, a little different from portraits. Each image is hand-edited to perfection. I spend approximately 1-4 hours on each image ensuring that it is color-enhancing to my fine art style, each person is tweaked as necessary to look their absolute best, backdrops are clean and prepared for fine art printing, and each image has a black and white conversion in addition to the color version.

I mean, the level of professionalism Joanna served was simply unmatched. She made me feel so comfortable from the moment I walked into her studio until the time I left. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience... not to talk of my pictures! The bomb.com !!! Joanna KNOWS her stuff. Her passion and love for what she does just oozes out of her.

Laura S.

I loved working with Joanna! She made me feel like a rockstar during my session, which was much needed after having a baby. The images she captured are beautiful and are going to be cherished by my family for a lifetime. I cannot thank you enough for the lovely work you did & how you captured me, as well as my little girl.

Jaime N.

I had a PHENOMENAL experience with Joanna. I love her shooting style and vision- which came to life so elegantly and beautifully. I love the array of props, fabrics and clothing pieces she had and so kindly let us explore during our session. If you're looking for a positive experience where you will be made to feel the most feminine and beautiful you've ever felt book with Sanguine Portraiture!

A wonderful experience! She knows her stuff! I am a dancer and know “good” angles well, but she really helped pull out even more and we got great shots!

Joanna is beyond talented! I recently did a photoshoot with her and am completely blown away with how everything turned out!
